ABOUT THE BLOOMING PAINTBRUSH STUDIO

ABOUT SANGHAMITRA (MITHU) DEB

Located in Austin, Texas, The Blooming Paintbrush Studio is an art and pottery school in a studio setting. This is a labor-of-love of Sanghamitra (Mithu) Deb. She is the founder, teacher and the “artist” featured at this site. Her goal is to deliver quality teaching in art and pottery while making the journey of learning a fun one.

The Blooming Paintbrush Studio offers classes to kids (5 years and above) and adults. As detailed in the Classes & Camps sections of this site, regular classes and summer camps covering a wide variety of concentration areas under art and pottery are offered. Mithu has been holding these classes for over twenty years. Besides camps and classes we have annual exhibition of student works.

A practicing artist and an enthusiastic teacher, Sanghamitra (Mithu) Deb is well qualified and experienced in various forms of art and pottery. She loves art and loves creating artists. Mithu has worked as a freelance artist and a designer for nearly three decades. Currently she is retired from teaching art at Round Rock ISD (Laurel Mountain and Spicewood Elementary Schools). Outside of school, she shares her passion for art and pottery with art-loving kids and adults through her art classes at The Blooming Paintbrush Studio.

After a B.A. degree in language and education, Mithu completed with honors another five-year college degree in fine arts (B.F.A.). She pursued her B.F.A at the world-renowned Kalabhaban art school of Vishwabharati University (Shantiniketan, India). At Kalabhaban she was trained in drawing, painting, design, sculpture, pottery and art history through a unique activity-based learning style. Mithu also completed (summa cum laude) an associate degree in graphic arts at Oakland Community College (Michigan). Mithu also holds a Teacher Certification through Region 13 in Art in the State of Texas and has ten years of teaching art in the Texas Public School System.
